Thursday 12th June 2025. Loch Speve to Salen.
Beautiful day today on the isle of Mull. So different to yesterday which was very barren. Today was incredible mountains that had obviously been carved out by glaciers long ago. And everywhere you look there's a creek or waterfall. Water everywhere. And soo green. Plus the weather stayed fine. In fact it was very warm. We stopped for a picnic lunch beside the sea and with lots of sheep wandering along. The sheep here are used only for meat and their fleece just falls off.
We rode to see Lachlan Macquarie's mausoleum and spat on it as he really wasn't very nice but I liked his wife Elizabeth. Amazing that the NSW government looks after the place where he and his whole family are buried. Rode down to a coffee shop where I again had a delicious hot chocolate. Then down to the boat. The tide meant we climbed down steps to get on the boat. And dinner was muscle's tonight. Boy we eat soo well. Now we're at the pub, me for WiFi and a Bailey's.
A serious climb after a great ride!
ReplyDeleteOur family remembers the notable “ falling water “ that seemed to be everywhere in that part of the world. Truly picturesque riding, Lorraine. So Macquarie is on Mull?! Interesting. Loving your reports. Kx
ReplyDeleteMore great photos. Love seeing it all. As for climbing down... That reminded me of all those steps up and down to our boat!!! (I'm guessing you meant mussels?)
ReplyDeleteOne more sleep till Susan and Teagan arrive. Made a casserole for tomorrow night today, but usually on the weekend, I just make soup. Not sure what they will want after 'plane food.
ReplyDeleteThey are also bring bags of dirty washing because their washing machine broke on Monday. They came today to replace it, but there was an issue with the tap! Just what you need when trying to get organised.
Your rides look great Smith and I love that photo of the boat, so much more interesting than the bikes I’m afraid. What a great trip you’re having. Ride on and enjoy..
