Sunday 15th June. 2025. Oban to Edinburgh to London.
Early start this morning as 5 of us were being picked up by the taxi that brought us to the boat 7 days ago. Once again the crew, especially Anna ensured we had a breakfast and helped us with our luggage. It was misty rain again as we said our goodbyes. Marion stays in Oban for one night then off to Glasgow. I was fortunate to be dropped off at the Waverley station and went in to check my ticket. Had to download an app. I always head to a young person to help me and wasn't disappointed. I decided to have a chat re an earlier train. Found one and decided a better bet to get in earlier as the morning would be rushed getting back to Windsor. So 6 hours later I arrived in Euston. A very crowded train at times but I managed and finished my book.
From Euston to Paddington was interesting especially with my case, but people are kind and always ready to help. Finally found my way to my accommodation, Norfolk Towers. I'd emailed them to say I was coming in a day early but they were full. Mmm what to do. Tried another place nearby and no go. 2 choices I could head to Windsor and beg a bed from Kim or book into the Hilton......why not!!! I figured I had some points from the US. So I'm now in a lovely(tad expensive room). Checked out where to go tomorrow and checked I could leave my case here and rang Kim to check all OK. And of course it is with Kim organising anything. Harry will meet me at the station in Windsor!! And after cold miserable Scotland it very warm in London and 26 expected tomorrow for the parade.
I'm ready for a cuppa and an early night!!
Definitely happy you did find another hotel, albeit "slightly" more expensive than the one you'd planned on. Why were you a day early?
ReplyDeleteNow for the last part of a great tour/ holiday. Enjoy. I'll look for you on the news.
Loved your last ride day. As Rutts said… and even Celtic standing stones. So now that is all over and you are negotiating big city realities. Have fun! We are currently enjoying a short break in Torquay, looking over the calm sea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a contrast of accommodation! Enjoy the parade and Windsor
ReplyDeleteI know that walk up from the station very well. Brings back memories. Make sure you look for the man inside the clock at the station. I didn’t know about it and never saw him. Have a lovely day with Kim and Harry.
