Tuesday 27th May 2025. Rafting down Snake River. Jackson Hole Wyoming.

What a day. Again beautiful  weather and I got a cup of tea!!!  Got up to have breakfast at the place I'd checked out that sold tea. Ate and drank it in the park. Went back for another cuppa and walked back to my cabin. I had loads of time so then walked to the rafting place. And was told you needed to wear wet suits. $20 for that. Well I squeezed into them, and put special boots on too. Then it was suggested a strap to keep my glasses on, $10. By this time I'm thinking, oh gee this is going to be rough!! Fortunately I wasn't  the only one with white hair. The bus drove us to the rubber duckies and we left everything  on the bus, so no mobile phone to take photos. A young girl had a waterproof one so got copies from her. Chatted to Joseph and Danielle on the bus and we were in the raft together. I sat in the middle so I didn't  have to paddle and felt safest. It was fine, quite exhilarating going through the rapids. In the quiet parts people jumped in but I decided getting back in sounded and looked extremely awkward so declined.

The trip was beautiful.  We saw many bald Eagles, beautiful wild flowers and the snowy Tetons in the background.  A great trip. Back in the bus after changing. A young lady helped wrestle my wet suit and shoes off!! Joseph and Danielle asked me to go to the tram ride up the mountain.  Why not. They picked me up from my cabin and drove us there. We went up the mountain, where it was 15degrees cooler. I shouted us all waffles and hot chocolate as we looked over the amazing scenery. Back down and they've  just dropped me off. A delightful couple from LA. What a day. I've booked my uber for an early start at the airport.  Flight to Houston, then Denver, then Kalispell.  Fortunately a shuttle to my motel for the night, the Hamptons!!

  1. Tony enjoying the read too. The scenery is reminding me of our “passage” trip re snow capped mountains and river sojourns. Always fascinated when the mountains just seem to go straight up without foothills. Lovely to meet friendly people. Xx

  2. Glad you didn’t fall in and that you managed to get out of that wetsuit. Must have been a challenge. I’m a bit jealous as I’ve always wanted to go white water rafting. Those mountains are breathtakingly beautiful.
