Wednesday 5th June. Pitea.
A leisurely start to the day and then off to Pitea to do some shopping. I can't get over how different it all is without snow. The skies are blue, the temperature is perfect and slight cool breeze. Just beautiful summer weather. Whenever I've walked the streets of Pitea I've been rugged up, and snow and ice abound and then sun barely makes a smudge on the horizon. Needless to say the Swedes are looking very white after their winter. We went to the special place to get the grog for tonight's meal, then to the museum for a postcard for Kaz. Then to tourist info for some great souvenirs. JO then drove us around to the church they were married in and we'd been to a Christmas service there years ago. Home unpacked groceries and Marianne started preparations for dinner with Kim, Kabita and her boyfriend Andreas. I cut up the coleslaw. Jo grilled the meat to perfection, Kabita prepared the Aperols and we sat outside for our meal.
After dinner I taught them the monopoly card game. With 6 of us it went on forever but finally we got a winner!! It was so lovely seeing the kids again, all grown up and delightful adults. Off to the cottage tomorrow. Both my boys have been there for snow boarding etc but it's new to me.
Glad to see you made it with a daily report.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so different with sunshine.
Catching up…again! ( theatre in Melb and stayed at bh) My goodness that water was a true raging torrent. I presume Scandanavian power is mainly hydro?? Love the change of architecture, change of street life and peeking into a Swedish home. The green and blue are so vivid. Would have been quite happy joining you with the aperol. Chris and I had ours at The Elephant and The Wheelbarrow.
ReplyDeleteThat looks just about a perfect day with your friends and their family. All grown up like your boys.
ReplyDeleteCertainly agree re the colours. The houses are great- lucky you to see the contrast in seasons!
