Monday 27th May. On the Admiral and then ferried in the tender to Serce Limani riding 50kms to Ciftlik.
While further than yesterday it was a much more scenic ride. So after breakfast we pile into the rubber ducky(so elegantly, the young guys are great, they hold you tight to ensure you get in safely) I always love the ride and once there we find our bikes, put on our panniers and head off. The roads we ride on are often boarded by flowering oleanders and there are bougainvillea and even Patterson's curse growing. Its very pretty. Up the top of each hill is an amazing view of the blue Mediterranean, islands and towns. We have lunch at a little seaside village, fresh fish and chips. The Brazilians are so friendly and inclusive and all speak excellent English. After this break I feel like a snooze, but more bloody hills. The hills certainly out number the downhills!!!
By the time we stop at the wishing tree, a very old plane tree, from 1800, walk around it for luck, I'm ready to call it a day, but oh no, more hills and I only have 1 bar left on my battery. Whizzing downhill, I reach speeds of over 40kms but am very careful. Back on the boat again after our transfer in the tender. I simply jump into the water to cool off and wash my gear. Ahhhhh. We are sailing again and I assume to our mooring ready for tomorrow's ride.
Those views from the hill tops are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYou'll either be really fit or ready to sleep for weeks. Enjoy.
Oh you are so lucky with the weather. The views are glorious! Swimming would be bliss after a tough day's riding.
ReplyDeleteTotally lovely. Similar to Croatia but with sunshine. Hooray! Thumbs up to a seaside village and fresh seafood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful coastline but oh those hills! You’re definitely earning your dinner.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place- hope your battery lasted!
