Tuesday 2nd May. Ourence and conference meeting day.

Up with my alarm and off to breaky. Fortunately I'm in the hotel where the COST meetings are held. We pass our treats from our country/uni around. They loved the Aussie coasters. Enough for everyone.  There is always alot to go through and interesting that the numbers of students wanting to go abroad has dropped  off, also there has been a big drop in general uni enrollments. This was predicted before covid due to global financial  crisis  etc, and covid has just escalated it. People are questioning the value of education,  esp in relation to jobs, student debt and political issues. Interesting.

Then a 3 course lunch and wine!!! Struggled back to finish off the agenda. Always interesting and good to get the senders perspective. A walk with Chris and Evelin and Chris was able to tell us the info from the tour he and other spouses had while we were in the meeting.  The Celts were here and the Roman's promised them peace so the community flourished. The climate is influenced by the river that cools it down in hot weather. And it was hot today, 36 and very dry.

Off to dinner, and I only felt like a salad and a delicious  sorbet for dessert.  We then wandered down to the Plaza for a sangria and chat with some of the COST crew. A great day again.

  1. Most interesting world-wide changes. Clever mirror shot…Anne has been good at those! Blimey those large lunches! Tony had one similar to the charcuterie platter and we never ordered a full Spanish lunch again!! All looks fun and beautifully warm.

  2. Fascinating how covid has changed the situation. Does COST have a future? It all looks lovely.

  3. Glad the conference is going well and that you are clearly not starving. All good here. Lots of autumn leaves and colour.

  5. Missed my early morning check at your blog yesterday. Did it come in late?
Working again today. Third day this week. There is a desperate need for teachers. Maybe they need to bring back studentships?
Looks like a lovely town. Enjoy.
