Tuesday 16th May. Jesla, ride to Stari grad.

Still in Port because as my cuz Deb would say, biblical winds. In fact all ferry services were cancelled and every boat made for safe port!! Up for breaky and on time for our morning bike ride. The wind had chased the rain clouds away and out came the sun. A beautiful ride to Stari grad. Through fields that have been cleared of rocks and the rocks made into walls that divide the land and terrace it. Love the wild poppies. Stari grad is a UNESCO site as occupied 5000BC by the Greeks. Lots of lavender fields as well as vineyards.

The winds was very gusty returning and you had to hang on tight to ensure you stayed upright.  Last night we went out for a Croatian meal. Veal, potatoes cooked in ash ovens. Delicious.  A gelato after and a walk around the town as no rain!! Tonight dinner on the boat and a relaxing afternoon of bridge!! A hard life!! It really was beautiful riding today in sunshine and being able to see everything!!!

  1. Other than the wind sounds like a great day- poppies and rock fences are fantastic.

  2. Strewth. Just took 20 mins to be able to comment! Not sure why it wouldn't let me and it still won't, unless I'm in my Google account?
Anyway glad to see the sun is out at last. Always love seeing the poppies and walls.

  3. Ah! I was wondering how long it would take you to discover the sladoled! Wind is always a pain. Hooray for the sun, those stunning poppy shots and the joy of rural riding.

  4. I really am enjoying your blog Smith and you’re taking some great photos. I wonder which you’ll put on the wall at home. Like the others I’m admiring the poppies, rock walls and terracotta roofs.

  5. Love your photos! Blue skies make everything so much better! You will have to make your boat & bike a yearly thing.
