Saturday 20th May. Trigor and Split.
Met my friends downstairs to have breaky at my hotel. We all then walked to the bus terminal. Hans and Christine to check out the shuttle bus to the airport and Dennis, Ros and I to catch the bus to Trogir. A short ride of 35 mins and in the port of Trogir. The market was on and then a walk around the town inside the walls. The little streets with shops selling food, souvenirs, everything. How they all make money is beyond me. Tho in June and July the tourist numbers are huge. Main business of Croatia!!! We climbed a fort for great views. Saw the fire brigade showing their skills, then we sat for a beer, shandy. Started to rain so we adjourned to a little Cafe for lunch. Rain stopped and we walked some more. Bus back was the town bus so took twice as long and dropped us at a different spot. All good tho as once you find the walls you know where you are. We had our final gelato and said fond farewells. They head to Zagreb tomorrow by van and I'll fly to Vienna and onto Chicago. A quiet night tonight as am a tad weary after walking all day.
Well done. The towns looked lovely. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an interesting town. Safe travels tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteZagreb looks very pretty. You must be feeling sad to leave your friends.
ReplyDeleteSmith l got to Maria Island via ferry and Mona via a ferry...no horrendous storms!
So you had one at 11? Must have been really hot!! Little did those rival early civilisations know that their solid defensive infrastructure was laying the foundation for Croatia’s 20/21 st Century economic survival. Despite the rain, better to be there without the overwhelming crowds. Loved my trip down memory lane. And now….??
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stone buildings that have stood the test of time and so good to have friends to enjoy it all with. A very successful holiday so far and more to come. Enjoy!
