Monday the 8th of May. Lunch north of Tavira.
Sorry I can't remember the name of our lunch place. It was north of Tavira and on the river that is the border to Spain. Marianne and I have just shared a huge jug of sangria so my blog could be a bit disjointed!!! We headed off after a late breaky and it was predicted to be 31 today. We took a wrong turn and ended going over a beautiful bridge into Spain. Back on course and up to the restaurant. Very hilly and sparse along the way. Very dry too. The river is the border between Portugal and Spain. No lamb chops today, sorry Max, but delicious steak cooked on a barbeque with salad and chips.
The pic of the guy on the building was a famous writer and a politician who fought against fascism in the 1970s. When we returned M and I walked down to the pool for a swim. Marianne works for the people who use the apartments for golf guests. Ohh, lovely cool swim and reading. Then a wander back to the bar for sangria. Delicious and full of fruit, so really very healthy. A lovely walk back along the little path. Another delightful day.
The weather looks wonderful. Horrid here. Days of cold, wet and miserable. Glad to see that you are trying to stay healthy with all that fruit.
ReplyDeleteFermented fruit! It looks idyllic as opposed to here atm. Hot & dry like a summer of our childhood.
ReplyDeleteYou are being very well looked after! Is that a huge fort on top of the hill? Love the bougainvillea in your pic but not the one that is re-sprouting on my back fence.
ReplyDeleteThat is a big jug for two! Such a sensible idea to keep the architectural feel of the region re low-rise whitewashed buildings. Looks lovely. Although I do like my cosy log fire!!
ReplyDeletePool looks inviting and sangria sounds delish!
