Monday 1st May. Ourence.
Ah 10 hours sleep makes all the difference. But when I went to read my blog comments I realised I'd forgotten to press publish. I was very tired!! I have since read your comments and I love getting them from those who've mastered Google. Others have emailed so I love to hear from you all one way or another, thanks.
I met Hans and Sonya for breaky. So Sonya is taking over from Hans in the Netherlands as the coordinator. Something I'm considering doing too as I think a younger approach is needed. I'm too impatient with suky students. What a surprise!!! Breakfast was croissants, cereal and ahhhhhh a cuppa. After that we headed back into town and young Sonya led the way, another advantage of new ones!! The town really is delightful and the weather superb. We visited a little market and some hot springs. Everything is shut as today is a holiday for labor day. So we sat for a drink after walking. They always serve you a little snack with your drink. Delicious little quiche. We walked on and bumped into Claudia from Mexico so decided to join her for another drink and then lunch. Claudia speaks fluent Spanish so we got the specialty, octopus, and ham and cheese for the dutchies!!! And I got another shandy. All delicious and we chatted on about COST students, the effect of covid, new rules, a range of interesting and stimulating topics. All the while eating drinking and laughing. Really doesn't get much better than this!!
We returned to our hotel and Sonya and Hans decided to check out the thermal springs. If any good I may try a swim later. I'm now in my room eating fruit and getting ready for tonight's welcome to us all. It will be great to see old faces and I suspect many new ones.
Fantastic start to the next section of your journey.

ReplyDeleteLovely..old friends, new friends, maybe change can be refreshing.
ReplyDeleteI went to my dentist yesterday for a check up, resulted in 1 loose wisdom tooth being extracted!
The area is known for its thermal springs…you NEED to experience them! Lovely hot weather. Casual banter amongst friends is always a joy.
