Friday 21st April. Deventer to Zwolle.
I heard Mark and Deb up early getting ready to leave and I wanted to keep out of their way but finally I just had to get up and see what was happening. I love moving on the barge. Deb and Mark are a well oiled team, while I stayed in the wheelhouse watching the world go by. I really love this travelling. I finally got dressed and watched as we went under bridges into slices and motored along the Ijssel river. We even went past a few places I'd been before when we motored to Deventer.
We arrived in Zwolle, a lovely old town, moored and had lunch. Then we walked into town. Our mooring has a ladder up onto the street so I'm very careful. It was a little drizzly but lovely checking out old streets and buildings. Deb and Mark headed back for a nap while I explored a bit. Found a cafe and had hot chocolate and apple pie and cream!! It appears apple pie is a Dutch delicacy. Mind you after last nights hamburger and chocolate mousse I need to do even more walking. I soooooo love this life!!!
Uh Huh! Multiple roses to our internet Guru, Rutts, for opening the “Comment “ door.
ReplyDeleteA truly gorgeous read before I make my breakfast cuppa. Laughed at the size of that pie/ cake…again!! Actually making gateau du pomme myself as a friend has brought apples and Gary and Willow are coming to stay. That Melba lounge area looks incredibly cosy . All too picturesque. Kx
It does look idyllic Smith. What a pretty town! I agree with Karyn that the boat looks really cosy and comfortable.
