Kampen. Day 27. May 5th.

Up this morning with chilly rain again but we were confident  it would clear for our ride. So off we headed to Hassett, the opposite  direction to Elberg, our last ride.
We rode over the bridge spanning the Ijssel river and on through agricultural land. Lots of hot houses growing strawberries and flowers. On through farms of dairy herds and sheep. Yes long flat rides but the wind makes for hard riding especially  on the way back with a head wind.

Into Hasslett, on another river. A very quiet town as a Sunday. Found a little cafe of the sun and yes the sun was out. Great little cafe, like an English pub. Great hot chocolate and bacon and eggs for me, Mark and Deb had omelets.  Lovely.

Ride home was cold and windy. So much so that I held onto Deb for awhile as she towed me with her electric bike.

Back home again with very sore bums. 40kms will do that to you!! In time to see the old sailing boat return to its moorings. Rummikub and cards later and then another movie curled up on the couch. A hard life!

Oh on the way back we saw 2 wallabies  in a farm. They didn't  recognize our Oz voices.

  1. A "very hard"" life for you at the moment. But you are obviously having a wonderful time.

  2. What a joy to have such ready access to cycling. Surely that helps to keep the locals healthier than other countries!? Meant to comment on the raised nesting boxes in the waters. How thoughtful!
