Kampen Day 25. May3.
Woken by phone calls this morning and then looked at hotels for next Friday before I fly out Saturday at midday for Athens, Greece. Found an Ibis one at airport with a shuttle. Finally got up and we all had breaky and dressed for a bike ride. I went to the nearby store to hire one. No electric but very reasonable for the day and off we went.
A lovely ride along the Ijsell river to Elberg another delightful fishing village. Very popular with tourists off the ferry boats. Place was jumping and very pretty.
Deb had researched where to have lunch so we went to Lucca for some carbs. Pizza for Mark and I, salad for Deb. Sun came out and very relaxing and yes my credit card worked.
Back home on the other side of the river and very cold. I could hardly speak the wind was so cold. Through farms with fat sheep, and geese. And even thatched roofs. Very picturesque.
Back in Kampen and I took my bike back while Deb and Mark did some shopping. I visited the old ship near us and chatted to the guys on board and discovered they were heading out soon. Amazing to watch it head out. Meanwhile Deb and I played Rummikub. A light dinner followed by another movie while it rained outside. We are very snug in Melba.

Why on earth would you need an e-bike? It's as flat as a millpond? Even I could manage that, but it does look incredibly pretty, despite the cold.
ReplyDeleteHope it warms up for you in Greece.
Totally delightful riding. And the freedom to do so sans casquette! Lots of water and GREEN. Definitely not OZ.
