Kampen. Day 24. 2nd May.

Lovely sleep in this morning. Deb brought me a cuppa in bed. Very spoilt. Turned out a wet day so no bike ride. Relaxed and watched the comings and goings in the harbor. Always lots happening as boats leave and others arrive. And the old boat at the entrance, which  I thought was an old wreck is actually  only one of 5 old boats still in existence and we watched the guys put up masts and the sail sheet. We think that there might be celebrations this weekend for Remembrance and Liberation  day.

In the afternoon  we walked into town and had coffee and cake in a lovely little restaurant.  Again they wouldn't  take credit card. Very hit and miss in the Netherlands.

I found the one and only place selling souvenirs  so got myself some ear rings. Caught up with Mark and Deb and walked to the park where the duck nests in the water stood and a mother duck with 7 chicks.

Beautiful  park and with the sun finally out a lovely walk.

Back to Melba where I play some Rummikub  with myself!!! Then another delicious  meal, followed by a movie. Tomorrow  if the weather is better we will do a bike ride.

  1. Patriotic "Smith" bakery. I laughed loudly when I saw the chocolate and cake...you had better do that bike ride today!! Also thought that Anne and I would have a field day with those detailed architectural features. Another lovely day of happy wanderings.

  2. Absolutely Karyn!
Rummikub by yourself???? I'm surprised you didn't drag some person passing by onto Melba and force them to play.
We had a great walk yesterday 10kms- no worries. But this morning I pulled a muscle/ put something out at the gym, which has forced me to sit very carefully. Think it is my old "friend" sciatica. Currently sitting on a hot pack watching "Sound of Music".
