Hydra, Day 37. May 15.

Fun last night playing bridge after a lovely dinner of pizza. I don't  know how I can keep eating. Up early this morning for breaky at 8 followed by bike ride at 9. We all met in the square for some history about Boubalini, a revolutionary woman who fought for Greek independence  in late 1700. We then had to ride around the square for a film group to take pics of us with a drone!!!

We then took off to completely  encircle the island. Great ride and as you turned a corner another beautiful  view. The island is barren except for pine trees that were planted after the original trees were cut down for wood to build the boats. The boats were essential for transport, food and water, as no water on the island.

We then stopped for drinks and I got a chocolate milk shake.

Back on the boat for lunch, stretch, macaroni lasagne, stuffed cabbage and stuffed mushrooms and of course beautiful  Greek salad. Ice cream for dessert!!!
Off we sailed to Hydra, we stopped along the way and a few of us went in for a swim. Oh h very cold, but fun. Then into Hydra. Beautiful  town and no cars or bikes, only donkeys. Very flash island and I'm  sitting at a cafe having  crepes and a hot choco.

Having a ball.

  3. Peaceful riding on quiet, coast-hugging roads, in the warmth and with the smell of pines. Life can be good! Off-season without the crowds, perfect. I do laugh at those slabs of concrete amongst the rocks where one is supposed to relax by the water! Gorgeous water but little sand.
Had the privilege of waving to Rob and Judy yesterday, as they sailed past Metung, heading to Paynesville, having arrived from Tasmania!! Such a fluke!!
