Tavira, Portugal. Day12/13, 20/21April
Yes I have finally arrived in Portugal and am now snug in my bed at Marianne and Jo's place. So good to be here with them at last.
I got to Dallas airport very early to ensure I made the flight. It was overcrowded and they were offering volunteers $600 to go on the next flight.....I was tempted but decided no. Got to JFK airport in NY and got my luggage to check in. Had to wait awhile but finally all booked through to Lisbon.
Great seat and very comfy but couldn't sleep. Finally arrived in Helsinki feeling like death warmed up!! Found a place to lie down and slept for about 4 hours. Woke and washed and got some food and eventually time for the next leg. Slept all the way to Lisbon so awake to meet Marianne and JO who were waving as I exited. So great to see them and we headed off to Tavira where they live. They had stayed in Lisbon last night so were ok for the 3 hour drive back.
We talked all the way, had a cuppa and now ready to sleep.

Phew! You definitely need recovery time. Maybe a nice Portuguese red for dinner. K
ReplyDeleteWell done on getting there.. albeit after all that "adventure/ misadventure". I am most impressed that you slept for 4 hours in an airport.
ReplyDeleteOn a flight to Houston we were offered up to $2000 by die hard baseball fans for our seats!! Too bad we were going to the Quilt Show- much more important and like you the possibility of getting another flight were negligible.
