Tavira. Portugal. Day 17. 25th April.
Rain has gone and the sun is out so off we went to the city centre of Tavira. Stopped at Cork All. I am astounded at what they can make out of cork. Handbags, shoes, hats, wallets etc. Incredible. It feels like suede. We then headed into the market area. We discovered it was a public holiday to celebrate the end of dictatorship 41 years ago. Democracy took over without a shot being fired. In fact people put carnations in the soldiers guns.
We wandered in the sun checking out stores and grabbed an ice cream.
We then wandered back to the car and drove to Taskas Maderia. A restaurant that used to cater to the workers. Very reasonable priced meals. €5 for a delicious grilled chicken, rice and salad and a carafe of red wine. Felt like a seista when we got home.
JO cooked meatballs and mashed potatoes for dinner with lingon berries . Plus the Mateus rose. I had a delicious juicy orange that are grown everywhere.

A great day with the locals. Healthier food! Relaxed holiday mode. All good. I'm at Carrum this weekend with Chris and Heather L. Raining at the moment but WE ARE NOT COMPLAINING. Heather is coming from dusty Cowarr. K
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice at the photo with the "small" people. Glad the sun is shining at last. Enjoy.
