Day 14 Pompeii and Sorrento.

Up for a heartly breaky and all dressed and ready to ride to Pompeii. Our leader takes us thru back streets of vege and flower gardens over rough roads into Pompeii. As its Sunday crowds of people coming back from church which adds to the unique Italian traffic. You just have to be brave and pushy.
We park our bikes and Alessandro joins us as our guide. He is so passionate and knowledgable about Pompeii. I was here 40 years ago but recognised nothing. Amazing place and lots of walking over rough streets. We had lunch under a tall tree then headed back. My knee was very sore so a relief to get back on my bike.
Back to the port and our boat is ready to head out. The bikes go on board and off we go to Sorrento. Its just beautiful along the coast. We put down the anchor then we have a swim in the mediterranean. Fortunately a ladder helps. Lovely and cool.
Then into Sorrento on the tender. More walking, strewth I was exhausted. Up hills but worth it at the top. Sorrento is a very modern, hip town. Had a delicious gelato then did some browsing and took the lift down. Back on the tender and started feeling a tad tired and squirmy with the rocking so, declined dinner and headed to bed. Sim0ly climbed into bed and slept. Much better this morning and ready for our big 35km ride.

  1. How amazing. Looks like the knee is happy on your bike just not when you are walking
