Day 37. Buses to Delaware, Ohio.

Oh up at 4.30am to catch the first of a few buses today. Brian and I said a sad farewell to Jack and Sherie after a wonderful stay with them. Brian put me safely on the bus to Grand Rapids and headed to Indi. I connected with the bus at Grand Rapids then off we went. Stops along the way and driver would say 2 min stop but was always longer so at Jackson I tried to get a cookie out of a vending machine. No luck to went outside to see my bus heading off...... ran to catch up and he stopped and let me on... I then had hot flushes imagining what I would have done if Id been left behind. Needless to say I didnt get off agsin!!!
Got to Detroit and much improved. 4 years ago it was very run down, now new buildings. Onto Marion and picked up by Tom and Paula. I stayed with them last year after their daughter's Kates wedding. Cuppa and cake outside around the pond, lovely. Kate and Nate here too as they save for a house, so great to see everyone again and chat. Brian is safely in Indi at his Airb&b and will meet Tom in Toledo on Friday to visit an aircraft museum. Paula and I will do our own thing.

Tuesday 10th June, 2025. Crinan to Jura.

 Boy I slept well after a big day. I was sooo cold and wet but recovered well after a hot shower and into dry clothes. Everything  was sopping and it was hard to find where to dry everything.  Fortunately today was sunny!! So we hung our clothes outside on the boat. They sailed after our bike ride. We did 27kms along the  Crinan canal and even watched a boat go in and out the locks. Ahh it took me back. A beautiful bike ride today. No hills and the sun was glorious.   We had lunch at Kilmartin and I had soup again. And an amazing hot chocolate.  We then did a few burial sites and some stones( much smaller than Stonehenge) We rode back to Crinan and off we sailed to Jura. Lovely smooth sailing and we played Phase 10. We sat outside to eat our delicious dinner( the food is wonderful on the boat) Unfortunately the midges came in so inside. We're  now over at the pub to check out our grog of choice!!! Beautiful  sunny weather predicted for tomorr...

Sunday 8th June 2025. Edinburgh and now Oban, Scotland.

 Arrived bright and early into Edinburgh and it felt like we were in a big warehouse. Certainly not flash, but so easy to get into Scotland,  took no time at all. Put my case into storage and took a bus into town. Bus driver was great and told me about the tourist spots. I walked around in the sun and checked out the castle and all the other monuments.  I even went to church and listened to the choir. Got back on the bus back to the airport and headed over to the Hampton hotel where I was getting picked up. Michael  had texted me to confirm pick up so all good.  Picked up with others and 3 hours later we arrived in Oban. Beautiful scenery.  The boat , the Flying Dutchman,  is much more rustic than all my other trips but food is great and again very well organised and of course this time I have my mate Marion from Melbourne and we've already paled up with Cathryn from Canada. We're drinking gin and tonics b4 we head back to the boat.  40 kms tomorr...

Friday 20th June 2025. Buckingham Palace, afternoon tea and F &M and a show in the west end.

 Yes I packed in a bit today as it was a little cooler. I had a nice chatty phone call from Tim and then headed to the bus to Hyde Park corner. I then walked down to Buck house under the glorious  shady trees. London  really shines at this time of the year. All the gold is shiny and sparkles,  flags and bunting everywhere.  I got there in time for the changing of the guard as did the big crowd. I finally got up onto Victoria's statue and got a good view of the famous balcony. I walked back up and finally found the bus to take me to Fortnum and Masons. I decided to lash out on afternoon  tea and yes it was a lash out. They add an extra £10 for service, really!! But it was lovely and definitely a one off. I couldn't eat everything so they pack it in a box and I shared it with the staff here at the Norfolk.  Later I headed in by the tube to Charing Cross to see Mrs Warren's Profession.  Imelda Staunton and her daughter were in it playing mother and d...
