Athens. Day 40. May 18th

Image
Up for our last breaky and fond farewells.  Finally just 5 of us left waiting for our transfer to a hotel in Athens. More hugs with our guides and off we went into Athens. I got out of the taxi and slammed the door catching my shin. Ouch. Discovered I was bleeding profusely.  Fortunately  one of the girls is a nurse so she bandaged me up quickly. Nice little hotel and comfy room. I went for a walk to Constitution  square and Parliament. All looked a bit familiar  when I was here last when I was 20!! I reckon I recognized the hotel Amalia Kaz and I stayed in.  Took photos of the soldiers and ate some fruit in the square and back for a laze in my room. Very hot but cools off in the afternoon. Watched a group busking in the mall. Girls rang and we met in the lobby to head off for our dinner....part of the Athens experience. Nice little tavern and we are outside. We wandered back. The streets were rocking and shops were open. Every turn you foun...

Port of Pireaus, Athens. Day 39. May 17th.

Up for our last day and everyone a bit sad I think. We took off from Epidavros while having breaky and sailed into Aegina. This lovely island produces pistachios and we saw many growing as we headed up to the temple of Aphiera. Another myth about the gods. The spent slot of time listing after attractive virgins and invariably getting them pregnant thru very unconventional  means!! Yesterdays one was thru silver rain!!!. Anyway this virgin managed to hide from the God and hid in the bushes on Aegina....so a temple!!! Another great ride on my ebike and then a walk around the temple, then some pistachio ice cream before heading down again. The temple. Home again past a big monetary then finally into port and our boat. A wander around town where I tried lots of things pistachio.  On the boat for lunch, stays and burgers cooked on the bbq on the boat. Then off we sailed into Pireaus. Hard to find d a mooring as there are so many ver...

Played some great bridge last night and then a late start this morning. Except boat started to sail off to our new port. So breaky followed by watching the scenery as we sail along. The islands are quite barren and rocky but the towns have lovely white buildings, orange and olive groves and of course the beautiful blue sea. We stopped for a swim again and much warmer today so many of us went in. We sailed into the harbor of Epidavros and got off to walk around. Lunch of kalamarie was delicious. A rest followed by a bike ride to the ancient theater of Epidavros. This is where , back in the 6th C, wholistic medicine was practiced with cures occurring etc. So many people came here to be cured. Askle.... was the healer and person who taught holistic medicine. Ride back was very down hill. Got up to 45km an hour!!! Love my ebike. Back to the boat and now sipping a rose while I write my blog using Hotel Mike's wifi!!! Dinner on...
